Knauf Insulation launches new packaging

21 November 2022

Germany: Knauf Insulation has launched new overwraps on its global insulation product portfolio. The new packaging reduces ink consumption by 70% through its design, featuring a white or off-white base hue and no more than one additional colour. The wraps are designed to maximise ease and efficiency and reduce cost of recycling. This is in line with Knauf Insulation's commitment to recycle over 25% of packaging by 2025. Within the same timeframe, it also aims to reduce its packaging's virgin plastic consumption by 25% and collect over 35% of delivery pallets for repair and reuse or recycling.

31 August 2022

Belgium: Recticel’s sales revenue grew by 19% year-on-year to Euro274m in the first half of 2022 from Euro230m in the same period in 2021. Its earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 11% to Euro24.5m from Euro22.1m.

In parallel, our operations teams have displayed high flexibility to accommodate the supply chain challenges.”

Etex issues Euro800m sustainability linked loan

09 June 2022

Belgium: Etex has raised Euro800m through a sustainability-linked medium - long-term unsecured loan. The producer says that the private placement, called a Schuldschein in German finance law, comprises three Euro-denominated tranches with maturities of three, five and seven years, at fixed and floating rates.

CEO Bernard Delvaux said “We are very pleased with this new Schuldschein issuance which we successfully completed in a challenging context. It testifies to a significant appreciation of Etex’s credit quality, of its performance of the last years and it demonstrates the investors’ confidence in the company’s strategy. Belgian government lowers VAT on insulation

07 June 2022

Belgium: The government has reduced value-added tax (VAT) on insulation to 6% from 21%. The measure aims to reduce national natural gas consumption in order to be prepared for any future shortage. Belgium is 6% reliant on Russia for its gas supply. Utilities companies supplying the Benelux region have declined to settle their bills with Russia-based producer Gazprom in Russian Rubles, so face a shut-off. Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten said that the Port of Zeebrugge was ready to begin imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US and elsewhere.

Van der Straete called on Belgians to ‘Insulate your homes, isolate Putin.’

Recticel increases first-quarter sales in 2022

28 April 2022

Belgium: Recticel recorded consolidated sales of Euro295m in the first quarter of 2022, up by 43% year-on-year from Euro206m in the first quarter of 2021. The group attributed the growth partly to a 28% year-on-year increase in its insulation sales in the quarter. It ended the quarter with net financial debt of Euro130m, down by 12% year-on-year from Euro148m. Recticel said that the quarter brought progress towards closing its divestment of its engineered foams business line to US-based Carpenter in mid-2022.

The group said that, despite geopolitical instability and inflationary pressure, its business continues to develop well in 2022. It continues to work on accelerated growth plans in order to double its insulation sales over a period ending in 2025.
