Kingspan Insulation Southern Europe launches Therma TA41 polyisocyanurate insulation panel
13 March 2025Spain: Kingspan Insulation Southern Europe has launched a new polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation panel, called Therma TA41, in Spain. This product aims to meet the demand for high-performance thermal insulation solutions in building applications. Interempresas Construcción News has reported that Therma TA41 insulation has a thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK and is suitable for use in flat roofs, ceilings, walls and floors.
Sika España renames Cototerm façade system as SikaTherm
06 March 2025Spain: Sika España has rebranded its Cototerm façade insulation system as SikaTherm. Nueva Ferretería News has reported that the newly rebranded product integrates the producer’s local experience with its global research and development.
Ecological Building Systems launches Gramitherm bio-insulation
14 February 2025Ireland: Ecological Building Systems has launched its new Gramitherm 90% grass and jute-based insulation. Ecological Building Systems uses biogas from grass fermentation to dry the finished product. The insulation, which features a polyester binder, sequesters 1.5kg CO₂/kg, Specification Online News has reported.
ETH’s Aeroskin Tech develops aerogel insulation
14 February 2025Switzerland: ETH Zurich spin-off Aeroskin Tech has developed an aerogel-based insulation that delivers comparable U-values to conventional insulations at a thickness of just 10cm. Parametric Architecture News has reported that the aerogel insulation will be available both as a spray plaster and as boards.
Superglass’ Superwall Cavity Batts among first insulation products to secure CCPI verification
14 February 2025UK: Superglass has secured Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) verification for its Superwall Cavity Batts range of insulation. Specification Online News has reported that the range is among the first in the insulation segment to receive this. The producer will seek verification for further products later in February 2025.
CCPI verification ensures the veracity and comprehensiveness of product information claims. It launched following the deathly Grenfell Tower disaster on 14 June 2017, where labelling was found to ‘deliberately misrepresent’ insulation’s fire safety performance.
ICL launches VeriQuel R100
16 December 2024Israel: Chemicals company ICL has launched VeriQuel R100, a reactive phosphorous flame retardant for rigid polyurethane (PU) insulation. VeriQuel R100 chemically bonds with the polymer matrix in PU insulation. ICL invested US$2m in the development of VeriQuel R100. Four US-based roofing producers also launched products featuring VeriQuel R100, with six more reportedly ‘in development’ in the US and Europe.
TechnoNICOL upgrades Serpukhov glass wool plant
29 October 2024Russia: TechnoNICOL has installed a new glass furnace and polymerisation chamber at its Serpukhov glass wool plant in Moscow Oblast. AK&M News has reported that that the upgrade will expand the plant’s glass wool capacity to just under 2Mm3/yr and enable it to produce a total of 300 different types of insulation. TechnoNICOL is investing US$18m in the project, which uses equipment from Russian suppliers and is intended to reduce the sanctioned nation’s reliance on imports.
Ireland: Kingspan says that its latest modifications to its GreenGuard GG300 insulation boards have further reduced their thermal conductivity to 0.033W/mK. Specification Online News has reported that the producer says that this will facilitate slimmer construction while still meeting U-values, especially important in high compressive strength-applications such as inverted roofs and flooring. Accordingly, the boards are now also available in a new, slimmer 180mm thickness. The entire range of GreenGuard GG300 boards integrates with Kingspan's BIM Designer software platform.

Stora Enso introduces NeoLigno bio-based binder
20 June 2024Finland: Stora Enso has launched NeoLigno, a bio-based binder for mineral and glass wool insulation, designed to replace formaldehyde and isocyanates. NeoLigno is produced from lignin, a byproduct from the pulp industry. Stora Enso says that it offers superior mechanical strength and performs better in humid conditions than classic binders.
Senior research and development specialist Sara Faldt said "We see no major modifications or redesigns needed in the production line for companies who wish to make the sustainable switch and implement NeoLigno."
