US: Hamed Saber has won the Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association (RIMA) International’s Alexander Schwartz Award. The awarded recognises notable reflective products industry representatives who have advanced the industry through their contributions. Saber has authored over 150 papers, with sponsors including the US Department of Energy, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. RIMA International said that Saber’s work has been instrumental in progressing the industry from one-dimensional to three-dimensional analysis within the industry, which it called the ‘third spike’ in the history of reflective insulation technology.
The association said “RIMA International is pleased to recognise Dr Hamed Saber for all he has contributed on behalf of this organisation and the industry it represents throughout his professional career. The industry has benefited greatly from his efforts, and it couldn’t go to a more deserving person.”
US: The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association (RIMA) has appointed seven new directors to its board for a two-year term from the start of 2021. Prodex business director Sergio Luconi will serve as president, with Bill Lippy, Fi-Foil serving as vice president and Ralph Dale, Dunmore as secretary and treasurer. Dan Russell, Monty Millspaugh, Bobby Bird and former president Doug Kinniger also join the board.
US: The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International (RIMA-I) has recognised the service of four directors who will retire from its board at the end of 2018. Peter Highfill of LL Flex, Mike Boulding of Pro-Echo Marketing, Veronica Ataya of Celplast Metallized Products and Lynn Walters of Kemper System America were each presented with plaques by president Doug Kinninger at the association’s bi-annual membership meeting that took place in Washington, DC in late October 2018.
US: The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International (RIMA) is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Don Roy of Roy & Son’s, Pat Mascari of Infra and Robert Dittemore of Superior first met in Los Angeles in 1978 to discuss forming a trade association for their industry. An invitation to attend the DOE/FTC hearings on insulation products to represent reflective insulation in Washington DC followed in 1979 with RIMA member Raymond Urias of AIM also joining.
Later, RIMA became an internal association in 2007 with a meeting held in Paris, France. This led to the formation of the International Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Conference (I-RIM Conference).
RIMA-I members represent the association and the industry ASTM Standards, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), ICC and IBC participating in code development and changes and participating in meetings and code hearings throughout the year.
David W Yarbrough awarded Alexander Schwartz Award by Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International
21 June 2018US: The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International (RIMA-I) has given the Alexander Schwartz Award to David W Yarbrough. The award was presented at the International Reflective Insulation Manufacturers (I-RIM) Conference that took place in May 2018 in Costa Rica.
Yarbrough is an Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Tennessee Technological University and a retired Research Staff Member of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is a founding partner and Vice President of R&D Services and Principal Engineer of R&D Engineering in Cookeville, Tennessee. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and registration as an engineer in Tennessee and Florida.
New board members take posts at RIMA International for 2018
05 January 2018US: New board members have taken posts at the Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association (RIMA) International for 2018. Doug Kinninger of Fi-Foil Company becomes the new president, Sergio Luconi of Prodex has become the vice-president and Wes Hall of Reflectix remains as secretary and treasurer. Mike Boulding of Mitex International has also joined as a director.
US: The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International (RIMA-I) has elected four new directors following its autumn meeting in 2016. Lynn Walters of STS Coatings, Doug Kinninger of Fi-Foil Company, Peter Highfill of Oracle Packaging (LL Flex) and Sergio Luconi of Prodex (Costa Rica) have all been appointed directors for a two-year term starting on 1 January 2017. RIMA-I is a trade organisation that represents the reflective insulation, radiant barrier, and low-e reflective coatings industries.
